This project reimagines the manual bilge pump through a human-factors–driven design process focused on ergonomics, safety, and universal usability for recreational boaters. By integrating user research, standards review, patent analysis, and iterative sketching, including the use of AI transversal design tools. The final concept delivers an adjustable, low-strain, and boat-mountable pumping system optimized for diverse users and real-world marine conditions. The redesign enhances accessibility, reduces physical effort, and improves reliability while maintaining portability and compatibility across small vessels.
